What Are The Differences?
Most people tell me after a pain source release treatment that they have never had anything like that before. Why? How is it different to remedial massage?
The major difference is that I don’t move much. I listen to your story and the reason why you have come to see me. Most people are on their back as I work with them, but if that causes too much pain I can work with you sitting in a comfortable chair, seated and propped up with pillows all around you or even standing. I apply gentle pressure into your problem area and wait. I could sit with the tight, restricted or painful area for 15 minutes or longer until I feel your body start to soften and move under that pressure. Then I follow the movement and allow your body to self-correct.
At this time I am working with the reflex part of your body. The part that you are not usually aware of. You may become extremely relaxed and even feel like you are asleep, but you have gone into a meditative state where you are in your body and not your head. This is where healing of all types takes place. You are in charge.
It's Gentle
I work with your body in a 3 dimensional way, using gentle pressure, traction and compression. This allows your body to create energy which creates heat. You are then able to stretch and use your body even more. You might even start to feel tightness and restrictions that have been stopping you from doing things.
As your body stretches, it looks for a more neutral alignment. I feel this movement and allow it to happen. You are unwinding a reflex pattern, or finding and undoing a posture habit that could have been with you for years – maybe causing the wearing away of the cartilage in your joints which could lead to osteoarthritis. Muscles that have been overworked and tight are released so that you have the opportunity to build strength in other areas. Sometimes you will get a problem solved in one or two treatments.
My first appointment with Sandra was because of re-occurring neck pain and headaches. I received a free session in the mailbox from Sandra and decided it was worth a try. I went twice for my neck and have not had any further neck pain or headaches. I was amazed, Sandra’s seemingly simple technique, her understanding of the body and her knowing when the body has aligned is nothing short of miraculous.
I will only take you as far as your body is willing to go and the treatment is mostly pain free. There is no forcing and the treatment works best if you are feeling comfortable. I let you see what might be possible. It could be likened to peeping through a door that has been shut for years. You can either explore or shut it again but you have experienced what is there.
I do not want to be seen to discredit other therapies or the medical profession. Everything has its place and everybody has to work out what works for them. I work the way I do because I can feel movement under my hands and have the patience to wait with my client until they have accepted the change or experienced a softening which they can work on later either with me or another therapist or health professional.
Pain source release is very gentle and surprisingly simple. If you have a problem that is of a different nature to nerve or muscle positioning Sandra will refer you back to your professional consultant or to seek one out.
